Nepal Communist Party (Joined)

The history of CPN (United) began with the beginning of communism in Nepal in 1950 by Puspa Lal Shrestha. In 1963, the party split into two parties, one led by Bishnu Bahadur Manandhar and another led by Puspa Lal Shrestha. In 1991, there were three CPN groups :

  1. CPN group of Barma
  2. CPN group of Amatya
  3. CPN group of Manandhar, named CPN(United) later

From 1991 to 2007, the secretary general of the united party was Bishnu Bahadur Manandhar. From 2007, the party elected Chandradev Joshi to the post of president and Ganesh Shah as general secretary. The party is going to participate in the CA election.

Summary of the Manifesto

The CPN (United) has proposed to make the Prime Minister the chief executive of the state who will be elected by the lower house of the parliament.

The manifesto has said that the president will act as a ceremonial head of the state who will be elected by the members of parliament and federal assemblies.

Nepal will be a federal, democratic, independent and sovereign republican state. The federal states must be constituted keeping in mind the regional balance, socio-economic condition and geographical specialty, availability of natural resources, sustainable economic development, linguistic, ethnic and cultural concentration of population and administrative accessibility.

It has said that there will be a bicameral parliament at the centre.

National security, sovereignty, international border, monetary policy, foreign relations, national communication, highways, mega projects, issues of preserving bio-diversity, environment and soil conservation will fall under the central government, while rest including health and education, trade and commerce and law and order of states will fall under the state governments.

If the Maoists stick to the same policy there is no need for others to change their views on them. They have not changed a bit. They are sill anarchists.
