PARTY DETAILS
Rastriya Jansakti Party

The party came into existence when Surya Bahadur Thapa broke away from Rastriya Prajatantra party on March 13, 2005. The party has Surya Bahadur Thapa as chairperson. Surya Bahadur Thapa is a former Prime Minister, and founder of Rastriya Prajatantra Party. He left the RPP on November 4, 2004. On December 27, 2004, Thapa and his followers set up a contact office in Baluwatar, Kathmandu to organize a broad political conference and form a new party. Thereafter a political group was formed comprising 320 members in the organizing committee to hold the conference. Thapa was the chairman of the committee, while Prakash Chandra Lohani was its vice Chairman. The political conference was postponed due to the imposition of emergency by King Gyanendra on February 1, 2005. The Rastriya Janashakti Party was registered with the election commission in March 2005.
