PARTY DETAILS
Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Nepal

Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal was founded in 2008 by the party chair Kamal Thapa. It was registered at the Election Commission ahead of CA election. The party demands reinstatement of Hindu Kingdom. Kamal Thapa was Home Minister during King Gyanendra's rule.

Summary of the Manifesto

RPP-N is the only party advocating a constitutional monarchy sans executive power.

The manifesto states that to create a political environment the party would accommodate the king as a ceremonial king, the institution of monarchy being a symbol of unity to protect and consolidate democracy. It has proposed constitutional king as the head of the state. The PM shall have full executive powers as the head of the government. The monarchy would remain like in Thailand, Japan and England.

Its manifesto suggests that a parliamentary democracy with constitutional monarchy is a reliable alternative for Nepal. The party emphasizes on unity, reconciliation and good will among all democratic forces to ensure a change within continuity.

The third amendment in the interim constitution, which declared that the first sitting of the Constituent Assembly would enforce a decision to declare the country a republic, is unacceptable to RPP-N.

The party has suggested a bicameral legislature with directly elected members in the lower house and indirectly elected members comprising women, dalits, janajatis, indigenous, and madhesis on the basis of the population in the upper house.

Its manifesto proposes a federal structure of governance on the basis of race, geography and economic opportunities without affecting national integrity and unity, but has not mentioned the number of federal states.

The manifesto says that foreign policy would enhance relationship with all friendly countries, especially with Nepal's immediate neighbors on the basis of tradition and equality. It further states that the party will not accept any foreign intervention in the country's internal affairs. It says that the party feels the country is heading towards disintegration because of the wrong decision made by the seven ruling parties.

If the Maoists stick to the same policy there is no need for others to change their views on them. They have not changed a bit. They are sill anarchists.
